1. Devanahalli Fort

Devanahalli Fort is located in Devanahalli, Karnataka, India, north of Bangalore. Malla Byre Gowda of Avathi, a vassal of the Vijayanagara Empire, built a mud fort at Devanadoddi in 1501. Hyder Ali rebuilt the castle from stone in the late 18th century to create its current structure. It was built by Malabari Gowda in 1501 and descended from it until the mid-18th century. In 1749, Nagarajaiah in Dalwai, Mysore attacked and occupied the fort.

Devanahalli was a part of Gangawadi and was later ruled by Rashatrakutas, Nolambas, Pallavas, Cholas, Hoysalas and Vijayanagara rulers. The first mud fort was built by Malla Baire in AD 1501 during the reign of Vijayanagara, with the consent of Devanahalli’s predecessor, Devanadoddi. The fort was occupied by the Mysore Wodeyars under the command of Nanja Raja in 1747 AD. It was conquered several times by the Marathas before falling under the control of Haider Ali and Tipu Sultan.
